CYC and Bafang brake sensor pair

This brake sensor for hydraulic brakes consists of a switch with magnet and is compatible with both CYC and Bafang BBS01/022/HD motors (3-pin HIGO connector). When the brake is activated, the motor assistance is stopped immediately. The cable length is approx. 50 cm.

The sensor is mounted on the brake housing, the magnet on the brake lever. This should move away from the brake housing when the brake lever is actuated. The normal distance at rest is only a few millimeters; fine adjustment is required. Depending on the brake, a tolerance should also be taken into account – because the levers will give way slightly if the brake pads are worn.

If the magnet is not nearby or is lost, the motor will not work and the sensor must be unplugged from the main wiring harness. The sensor is attached with hot glue and can also be secured with cable ties. The scope of delivery includes 2 brake sensors and 2 magnets.

An alternative to this brake sensor is the use of the Magura MT5e hydraulic disc brake. Here, the sensor is already integrated in the brake lever.
