The Shark housing is a popular choice due to its small size and relatively high capacity. It is long and slim, can be mounted in many frames and looks good. 14S 52V batteries have a maximum charging voltage of 58.8V. This case offers some interesting features:

• The Super Shark housing is designed for 52V 4P with 56 cells, including BMS and CNC cell holder, which keeps the individual cells stable and secure.
• The quality and construction of the injection-molded housing has been further improved and offers a material thickness of at least 3.3 mm. There are numerous reinforcements in the housing to improve rigidity and strength. The tabs on the underside of the Super Shark housing have been increased to 8 and are at least 5 mm thick, as well as being more evenly distributed along the entire length of the battery. The charge status of the battery can be displayed on the side LED bar and has an integrated switch. Long press to switch on.
• The controller housing in the rail has been omitted, which most people did not use. The lockable rail is reinforced with a metal bracket, has more mounting points and fits most bottle cage eyelets. The rail can now be used for 4P and 5P batteries. The rail is supplied with an Anderson 45 plug for discharging and approx. 20 cm of cable.
• With the specially stamped nickel terminations, each cell in the pack has a fuse. In the event of an internal short circuit in the battery (which the BMS cannot protect against), the cell connections are safely opened, preventing any of the cells or the cabling from overheating. CNC spot welding ensures consistent welding quality and welding position. Safe by design!
• A high-tech Smart BMS is used, which is designed for a real 35-40A continuous current, the maximum current is programmed at 60A. With the Bluetooth BMS, various battery data can be displayed via the smartphone and an app, such as cell voltage, temperature, charge/discharge current, capacity (real SOC, measured Ah and remaining Ah), data log and error display (on LED panel). The BMS balances during charging and therefore does not require a full battery charge. With auto power-off function, as well as automatic switch-on on controller connection (avoids sparks as long as the battery is switched off). This new 2-way BMS costs us significantly more (requires more MOSFETs) than a 3-way BMS
• Equipped with a high-current charging plug for up to 8A, can optionally also be charged through the discharge cables
• 18650 A-class cells from official suppliers
• Can be connected in parallel with another equivalent battery

Jumbo Shark 52V Technical information:

• You can find optional chargers here. The charger only switches on when a battery is connected
• A suitable plug for the charging socket with adapter to Anderson 45 can be supplied on request (but is only required if you want to use a charger with an Anderson plug)
• The service life of the battery is extended by charging to 90%. The 5A charger has a switch for either 90% (L) or 100% (H) charging. The BMS does not require a full charge to equalize the cells. Also, the batteries should not be stored completely full or completely empty for long periods of time
• The cycle count will also be reduced if the pack is regularly used at too high discharge rates (the BMS has temperature protection if the battery gets too hot). Therefore, the battery should be matched to the rest of the kit to achieve the expected performance and long-term use. Recommended maximum discharge current depending on cell type:
  Samsung 35E: ~30A continuous, 35-40A Max
  Samsung 30Q: ~38A continuous, 55A Max
  Samsung 33G: ~23A continuous, 30A Max

Realistic capacity of the Jumbo Shark 52V Ebike battery:

The conservative indication of the cell capacity is approx. 2.95Ah (Samsung 30Q) and 3.4Ah (Samsung 35E + Panasonic GA). This results in

• Panasonic GA: 50.4V nominal, 13.6 Ah, ~680Wh (or 52V, 14Ah, 728 Wh with manufacturer’s specification)
• Samsung 35E: 50.4V nominal, 13.6 Ah, ~680Wh (or 52V, 14Ah, 728 Wh with manufacturer’s specification)
• Samsung 30Q: 50.4V nominal, 11.8 Ah, ~743Wh (or 52V, 12Ah, 624Wh with manufacturer’s specification)

Note: The figures refer to a new battery in warm weather and a discharge rate of ~0.5C. Cold temperatures or high discharge rates will result in reduced capacity. Capacity will decrease over time and usage. 52V batteries means 14 cells in series at 3.7V nominal (14 * 3.7V = 51.8V), but the nominal value should be calculated at 3.6V, which means 50.4V nominal.

It is advisable to drill a total of 3 holes in the frame, as the bottle cage eyelets are not designed for this weight; threaded rivets/blind rivet nuts are suitable for this. Alternatively, a strong cable tie or a hose clamp can also be used

Batteries must be protected against mechanical damage, overheating, short circuits, deep discharging (long standing times) and overcharging, otherwise there is a risk of fire. Always charge under observation and in a dry place. Ensure positive (red) and negative (black) when connecting. The battery is specified as splash-proof, but we recommend avoiding any water, especially high-pressure cleaners or rain at high speed.

The previous Hailong housing, which was used for most of the Shark batteries in circulation, suffered from several problems:

• • • There is space on the Hailong rail for a controller (which is rarely installed), but it takes up valuable space from the battery. This also means that the mounting points of the rail often do not match the mounting points of the water bottle eyelets. The rail is made of plastic without a metallic structure.
    • The tabs on the underside of the housing and the rail are only ~2.7 mm on the Hailong housing. Due to the short rail, there are only 6 tabs. Thin materials with low support structure were used on the entire case. Generally, the material thickness is ~2.8mm, which often leads to failure at the loading bracket or locking side.
    • The Hailong housing is designed for 13S only (48V battery). To integrate the additional cells for 52V, the standard cell holder must be omitted and the cells glued together. Without the cell holders, safety is compromised.
    • Hailong housings were generally supplied with a DC2.1 charging connection, which is only specified as 3A
