Bafang BBSHD motor protection plate

This mudguard protects the motor from stone chipping and damage caused by contact with rocks or stones. The wiring harness is particularly well protected.

The plate has four mounting brackets, which are connected directly to the existing screw connections on the motor side (controller and stator screws). The brackets are attached externally – not between the controller or stator and the motor housing – so that the existing motor seals remain unaffected. In addition, the guard plate can be mounted on the motor in two different angular positions and thus adapted to the installation angle of the motor. Even if the motor has to be positioned slightly more downwards due to the frame, the plate can still be mounted in the correct position.

The mudguard may also deform in extreme cases, but it must not tear off or break. It may therefore bend in the event of an incident (e.g. hitting rocks), but it does not have to remain smooth. It would be nonsense to design the sheet metal so sturdily that it would not deform when subjected to high forces. As a result, it would either have to be very thick and therefore heavier – or it would become very expensive due to complex production technology (e.g. profiling by deep drawing). We are of the opinion that a simple, laser-cut and bent 1.5 mm stainless steel sheet is sufficient for the ideal engine guard – which is therefore light, sufficiently stable and inexpensive.

This product is a perfect fit for the Bafang BBSHD mid-motor. If you want to use the mudguard for the Bafang BBS01 or BBS02 mid-motor, the 4 mounting brackets must be removed and repositioned accordingly – this means it can also be used with the Bafang BBS01 and BBS02 motors.
