Bafang BBSHD nylon gearbox

Reduction gearbox with pressed-in bearings, original product of Bafang BBSHD.

It is made of nylon to reduce noise. However, it is more susceptible if excessive forces are applied and there is no crank movement at the same time (brake, wrong gear, etc.).

The nylon gear wheel should be sufficiently greased during installation. Conventional grease must not be used for this. We recommend using Mobilgrease 28 and lubricating the gearwheel at regular intervals (see blog).

1. Loosen the controller screws and remove the controller
2. Carefully remove the silicone from the cables. Ensure that the cable insulation is not damaged.
3. Remove all 4 phase rubber seals
4. Loosen the screws on the stator side and remove the stator incl. rotor
5. Unscrew the 3 Phillips screws jerkily and with a lot of pressure. We recommend using a strong cordless screwdriver and a suitable bit.
6. Screw in 3x M5 screws (from the stator) evenly so that the plate is raised
7. Then pull out the nylon gear wheel. Grease the new gear and reinsert it. Then reassemble everything and replace the seals if necessary.
