A bicycle is not only a means of transportation, but also a passion and a hobby for many people around the world. Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or just starting out, it’s important to understand the basic bike components and their names. In this blog article, we’ll take a closer look at the most important parts of a bike.
1st frame
The frame is the basic structure of the bike and is usually made of metal, such as aluminum or carbon. It holds all the components together and determines the size and geometry of the bike.
2nd fork
The fork is located at the front of the bike and connects the frame to the front wheel. It consists of two fork blades and often contains suspension to absorb shocks and vibrations.
3rd handlebar
The handlebars allow you to control the bike. There are different types of handlebars, such as straight handlebars, road bike handlebars or curved handlebars, each of which is suitable for different riding styles.
4. brakes
The brakes are used to bring the bike to a standstill or to reduce speed. There are different types of brakes, such as rim brakes or disc brakes, each of which use different braking mechanisms.
5th circuit
The gears allow the rider to change gear and adjust the cadence. There are two main types of gears: derailleur gears and hub gears. Derailleur gears consist of front and rear derailleurs as well as chainrings and sprockets, while hub gears are integrated into the rear wheel hub.
6. drive system
The drive system consists of cranks, pedals, chain and chainrings. It transfers the power from the rider’s legs to the rear wheel and drives the bike forward. E-bikes and pedelecs also have an electric motor.
7. impellers
The wheels consist of rims, spokes, hub and tires. They carry the rider’s weight and enable the bicycle to move. There are different types of tires, such as road bike tires, mountain bike tires or city bike tires, which are suitable for different surfaces and purposes. The most common tire sizes are 26 and 29 inches.
8. saddle
The saddle is the rider’s seat and should be comfortable to ensure a pleasant ride. There are different shapes and paddings to suit individual needs and preferences.
