Optimization of the throttle settings

Welcome to another insight into the world of e-bike technology from CYC Motor! Today we’re going to take a look at the throttle settings and how you can achieve more control and riding comfort through optimal configuration. Especially exciting for those who want to get the maximum performance and safety out of their CYC motor – be it for everyday rides or action-packed off-road adventures.

The most important settings at a glance

1. throttle on/off

You can easily activate or deactivate the throttle control in the CYC Motor app. For example, if you use a Photon motor and prefer to ride with pedal assist only, you can simply switch off the throttle. This not only reduces the risk of malfunctions, but also creates a tidy riding experience without unnecessary control elements. Please also note the information regarding applicable regulations in your country – see below.

2. ramping time - smooth acceleration

The throttle ramping time determines how quickly the motor develops its full power. For example, if you have a time of 2 seconds with a power setting of 1 kW, it takes 2 seconds for the motor to deliver its full power. This may sound like a small thing, but especially with powerful motors such as the X1 Pro with 5 kW, this function prevents the motor from immediately starting at full power and catapulting you off the track.

3. deadband setting

This setting regulates how far the throttle must be pressed before the engine reacts. This is particularly important for riders who use a user-defined throttle. A correctly set value prevents the throttle lever from always being active or reacting too sensitively to minimal touches. This can be useful both when installing a new throttle and when adjusting the power settings.

4. soft start - gentle start-up

Another feature that is particularly useful for high performance motors such as the X1 Pro is the soft start function. This function is only available on the X1 Pro motor and protects your bike cassette from excessive wear. When ramping up the motor power, it can happen that the cassette “hits” the hub, which can lead to damage. With Soft Start, the speed of the motor is slowly increased so that the freewheel in the cassette engages before the full power arrives. This not only protects the mechanics of your bike, but also ensures a smoother riding experience.

Conclusion: More control for a better driving experience

The throttle settings of your CYC motor offer a variety of options to make your ride safer and more comfortable. Whether you are an experienced rider who wants to use the maximum power of your engine or someone who prefers to take it easy and controlled – the right configuration of the throttle settings will help you customize your ride.

Please note that the use of a throttle lever may be restricted by law in some countries or regions. The throttle is often only permitted for off-road use, while it may not be used on public roads. Therefore, find out about the applicable rules in your region to ensure that you operate your e-bike in accordance with the regulations.
